Welcome to Dive Goddess Retreats!

I have been considered a 'water baby' for as long as anyone could remember, whether it was in the pool or the ocean; so it is not surprising that I ended up living on the island of Bali with it's warm tropical waters and seaside lifestyle.

I first arrived on Bali's beaches in 1975 as a child. Amazingly the warmth of the people, its vibrant Hindu culture has remained fundamentally unchanged over the years; so although my life journey has taken me to live in many locations around the world, I have always heard Bali's siren song drawing me back to the enchanted isle that is often referred to as the belly button of the world.

I earned my OWD dive certification (NAUI) in 1986, which opened me up to the wonderful underwater world which still enraptures me today.

In 1995 I became a PADI Underwater Naturalist diver during my time as a volunteer for 'Operation Wallecea' to help the conservation of marine areas that were being destroyed by exploitive fishing practices in remote regions off the coast of Sulewasi, Indonesia. There I participated in conducting underwater surveying and bio diversity studies to collect scientific date that later helped to make the area into the protected Wakatobi Marine National Park in 1996.

Before my transformation into a full-time dive goddess, I earned a B.A. in Communications from Canada's Simon Fraser University, which lead me to work for over 7 years as marketing manager for companies in the travel and water sports industry in Hong Kong, Australia, S.E. Asia & Europe, including as the Marketing Director for Mares scuba equipment in Australia.

Following the wise words of my mum who told me to “do what you love”, I later became a professional life coach and workshop leader for 5 years working with international clients both privately and with corporations helping people live their lives to their highest potential.

Today, as the founder of Dive & Surf Goddess Retreats , I am privileged to combine all my passions - my love of the ocean, both above and below the waves, and by providing holidays where women can experience the ultimate in personal development 'me' time, where they get all the pampering they could desire mixed together with exotic adventure!

Beate Goldschmidt - Dive Goddess Scuba Instructor

Bea has been a certified dive instructor for over 10 years and has accumulated more than 5000 dives all over the world. Originally from southern Germany, she became manager and partner of the dive-base ‘Tauchertreff’ in Punat, Croatia.

During the winter season in Europe Bea visited many dive spots in the tropics and admits that she became spoiled from the warm waters found there. In particualr she fell in love withthe friendly people she met in Bali and and it's vibrant culture. It was not long before Bea decided that she never wanted to leave!

Bea has been living and working in Bali since 2002, firstly managing a dive resort and now for Dive Goddess Retreats. Her long term experience on the island led her to discover a number of breathtaking dive spots far away from the tourist trails which she shares with our small groups of Dive Goddesses. Bea brings to each of our retreats her passion for diving and the ocean and her love of showing our guests the beauty and the great variety found in the underwater-world around Bali.
