Dive Spots
There are many amazing dive sites around Bali as the island is located where the Asian and Australian waters meet, which make this region home to the world largest diversity of tropical marine life.
During the retreat guests will enjoy two dives per day at all the different locations listed below. At Menjangan Island and Tulamben which are located on the north coast of Bali, we will stay an over night dive safari and spend two days diving at each of these remote sites, while enjoying exploring areas that are well off the everyday tourist's path.
We will also take day trips to a number of sites on the east coast of Bali. At Padang Bai the reefs are filled with brilliantly colored marine life everywhere you look; and for experienced divers we will also take a boat trip over to Nusa Penida island for drift diving in the lombok straits where we can find the quiet giant Manta rays as they fly along the ocean's currents.

MENJANGAN ISLAND
For Beginners to Experienced Divers
In the nature reserve and Marine Park of Menjangan Island, which is located in the north-east of Bali, we choose between 10 dive spots. Almost every dive there is a relaxing drift-dive where if we are lucky we can see Mantas, Eagle-Rays and schools of Barracudas. There are giant Gorgonian corals in every color along the reef walls and the visibility is great, up to 40 meters or more.
TULAMBEN
For Beginners to Experienced Divers
THE LIBERTY WRECK Depth 5-30 m
The American freighter ‘Liberty’ was attacked and sunk by the Japanese 1942 during WWII where it now lies just off the north coast of Bali. The 120m wreck lies parallel to the beach and is now one of the most spectacular dive spots on island. You will see schools of Jacks which surround us, Napoleon Wrasses, Scorpion fish, Snapper, big Potato Cods, Moray Eels, and if we are lucky small reef Sharks. Also, there are “small specialties” like nudibranches, ghost-pipe-fishes and a lot of crabs and shrimps at their cleaning-stations.
THE DROP OFF Depth 40 m
We will start from the beach. First you will see a huge field of stones which is home to a large amount of colorful nudibranches. Then in 18 m there is a dramatic drop-off where you will find at about 30 m the biggest violet Gorgonian in Bali. The reef is full of life with tropical fishes of all sizes and colors.
BATU NANAS Depth 5-40 m
This slope with its rocks that look like huge pineapples is 5 minutes away with the boat. Only a few people dive here and the chance of seeing big fish is given and possibly some turtles too.
BATU PANJANG Depth 5-25 m
This is a boat dive where we can find Pygmae- Seahorses and very often Harlequin-Ghost-Pipe- Fishes. The dive follows a gentle slope running along the reef and we often get to see turtles and big fish.
CORAL GARDEN Depth 18 m
A small dive spot with a huge quantity of different Anemones all with their Clown fish and other “inhabitants”. Almost every dive we find Harlequin- Ghost-Pipe-Fishes and Blue- and Black Ribbon Eels. It is a beautiful spot and great for night dives, too.
HINDUNG LAUT Depth 40m
A few kilometers away from Tulamben there is an ancient Lava flow that travels along the seabed. This spot is alive with all kinds of tropical fish. Beside the big ones like Tunas, Jacks, Barracudas and some small reef sharks we will find a Pygmae-Seahorse, Ribbon-Eels and big Octopus. A little bit further down there is cold water and incredible beautiful Gorgonians. This is our secret dive spot as it is not very well known and is one of our absolute favorites.
NIGHTDIVES – EXTRA OPTION
Night dives are held at Menjangan and Tulamben on our overnight safaris. We will meet flamboyant Spanish-Dancers with Imperator-Shrimp, Moray Eels at the cleaning-station, Stonefish, Twin-spotted-lion-fishes, Ghost-Pipe-Fishes, and a lot more! (additional costs apply)

NUSA PENIDA
For Experienced Divers Only
NUSA PENIDA Depth 5 – 20 m
All around Nusa Penida we do drift dives, there are strong currents and the dives are like watching a movie, where we hang suspended and enjoy seeing turtles, reef sharks and the healthy coral stretch all around the island. There is also all fish live you can find in the books, like the elusive Mola Mola and other thousands of different species. We can drift sometimes more then 2 kilometers away from where we entered the water with our boat following to meet us as we resurface.
MANTA POINT Depth 3 – 12m
Manta point is at south west of Nusa Penida and the only spot where you can promise Manta Rays up to 90%. There is a cleaning Station in 7m water deep where the manta rays get cleaned from parasites. Again it is a current dive, so just hang and enjoy, sometimes there is just one to three rays, but we have had a few times more where there have been 10 the big sea animals there at the same time.
